TDK is now a week away for us poor swines over in the UK, so I'll be avoiding all TDK chat, spoiler and non-spoiler alike.  I really don't want to ruin it for myself by get my hopes up or getting my hopes dashed like the last time.  I'm expecting to see a bloody great superhero film, nothing more, nothing less.   I'm not expecting to see the next Citizen Kane - or god forbid, Daredevil, just a great popcorn flick.

In related news, Gotham Knight was delivered today, much to my surprise and delight.  I wasn't expecting it to come this early, I really thought I'd be receiving it sometime next week since Play.com can be a bit rubbish about sending things out.  But since that wasn't the case this time round, I can happily report that Gotham Knight will be kicking off my Bat-Geek Week. Yay!

I've got the Burton films, seasons one and two of B:TAS (you can't get three and four over here for some reason), the 1966 film - I'll hear nothing against it, and most importantly: Batman Begins to tide me over until next Monday.  If things get really desperate, I can also order the Schumacher films from my cable supplier.  But strangely enough, I don't think that's going to be a problem somehow.

The countdown begins! Huzzah!

Okay, I'm going get some dinner now.

Last time I went into BB totally believing the hype, thinking that Nolan was going re-invent the superhero film genre.

Same here. And like you said, cringe-worthy script coupled with my biggest peeve: Bale's voice as Batman. We may have been spoiled for far too long by Kevin Conroy, and listening to Bale's version startled me out of the entire movie.

Gah, Rachel. No chemistry, no reason for the audience to believe in their relationship. Trusting her with knowing Bruce's secret wasn't as dramatic as it seemed on paper, given Katie Holmes was as wooden as a plank. This and Memento's the only film I've watched by Nolan, so I wouldn't know if he's not very good with female characters. I'll take your word for it.

Going with lower expectations, eh? I think that's a better way of doing it. It's hard though. I'd love to buy into the hype, seeing as how several die-hard fans on the flist have went and actually cried in theatres, touched by Heath's portrayal. Ah well, let's hope it's worth that effort for Batman.

To be uncharacteristically fair to Holmes, she didn't have a whole lot to work with. I honestly believe that even an actress with more talent would have still struggled with the role, given the dialogue she was forced to deliver. Ugh, I feel dirty now.

As for Nolan, I never really noticed it until The Prestige. You can really see a pattern developing after watching that.

And crying? Really? Without trying to sound harsh, I'm going to put that down to Kurt Cobain/River Phoenix syndrome. I thought Heath was a very good actor, but he's never blown me away. I could say the same from what I've seen from the trailers. He'll be a very good Joker, but I don't think he'll be THE Joker. But I'm wiling to have my mind changed on that subject.

Haha, I'm sure it's very appreciated. I wonder just how well Maggie G will fare this time round.

Yes, crying. In my short time in fandom I've just realised how empathetic I have to be with the fans, otherwise I would run screaming in a heartbeat :D Too intense!

Ah, but I am a heathen. Joker to me us always the DCAU Joker, voiced by Mark Hammill :D
