I did a very bad thing.  I caved.  I bought seasons two and three of The Wire from Amazon at £14.98 each.  Will I come to regret it?  By the end of the month, most certainly.  But the way I see it, it's one of my favourite tv shows, right up there with Battlestar and Six Feet Under.  Why wait until I do have a little more disposable income and the price has gone up?   I lose out what any way you want to look at it.  Instant gratification is where it's at.

Had a look at FC#3

Meh.  I have the same problem with spreading the virus through the medium of the internet as I did when Stephen King used mobile phones in Cell.  More so since the anti-life equation was spread through e-mail.   The hell?  So everyone who has internet, is sitting in front of their computer the second the virus is sent out?  I suppose I wouldn't have much as a problem if Morrison had shown the virus being sent through other mediums as well:  like television, radio, land lines, mobile phones, etc.

That would have made it a little easier to swallow - for me at least.   I could see it being being spread, from person to person, a hell of a lot quicker if Morrison had done that.  But I suppose, after reading a lot of depressing comments regarding the subject, that it worked for a lot of people.  Since it turns out only old folk, and people who live in huts, are the only ones who don't have access to TEH INTERNETZ.  Bloody hell.

Also, it seems Mary Marvel has had another makeover.  Hate it with the fury of a thousand suns.  Sure, evil is meant to be ugly, not look cool, or hip, or whatever.  But she looks so ridiculous right now that I'm going to struggle to take her character seriously ever again.  The name Mary Marvel will now forever bring up this image of a demented porn-star theme villainess.

I hope that someone wrote a plausible redemption story, but knowing DC, they probably haven't.

On a related note, after seeing the infected version of Batwoman in the last panel with a ball-gag in her mouth, I really, really don't want Ivy to be in Final Crisis - at least not as a fury.  I dread to think what Morrison could dream up in regards to her character, I'm still recovering from Dini's Stalked.

Um, what didn't you liked about "Stalked"?

I thought it was great! *kicks guns and knives under the rug*

It's weird. I have a very love/hate relationship with Stalked. On one hand, I can see why it was needed: With Catwoman's anti-hero status and Harley reformed, they really needed to underline Ivy's villiany. They did that very well. Dini also did a nice little twist on the usual 'Hero-saves-deluded-villainess-and-in-gratitude-she-mends-her-evil-ways.

What I didn't like was the cheesecake - but what else is new for me. I also thought the characterization was a bit of a departure from how she is usually portrayed. Granted, Ivy has always fed people to plants. But to make snuff videos of it, just because? I dunno.

I just find her more interesting when she's doing the eco-terrorist thing. Like Magento she has a point, but her methods are too out there. She just seemed like a villian with a plant gimmick in this, really two-dimensional.

I also didn't like the Harvest monster. I thought he was a bit silly.
