New Scientist / BBC / MSM. It's like The Day After Tomorrow on slow speed and with better dialogue, except you can't switch it off or walk away. I don't know, you can recycle as much as humanly possible, use public transport, use energy saving lightbubs, etc, etc. It doesn't make a bit of difference.
Sometimes I think it would be easier to go into denial about the whole thing. Pretend that it's just scare mongering and that climate change isn't going to royally screw us all. Pretend that's fine that hundreds, if not thousands, of species of wildlife are going to be wiped off the face of the planet. Just pick up a copy of NOW! magazine and read about Jade Goody and the like...Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Meh.
Sorry, I'm hating the human race more than usual today.

I really do not understand how more people in positions of power (the US president for example) are not trying to do something! *tries not to pull out her hair*

And if you're having a hating humanity day, why not try engineering a disease to wipe out the human race! It's surprisingly difficult...

Like you said, we could do the small things but what do they matter if the big things like carbon emissions from factories and industries are not drastically reduced? Without the big push, not many will be convinced this is as drastic as claimed.
My old supervisor told me, totally serious, that he doesn't give a damn about the future generations, he wants drilling for oil NOW. His reason? He's not going to have kids, so who cares if it poisons the environment? And this is a decent guy, despite believing it's all scare-mongering :(

Exactly. Without forcing industries and industrialized countries to cut back on carbon emissions then there really is no point at all. Pointless treaties like Kyoto are nothing more than service.
I've known people who are like that. It's the old 'I've-got-mine-fuck-everybody-else' mentality. I think it's really sad. I also think that we will still be around when it all goes down, we'll be up in years, but we'll still see it.
